Greetings, my name is Natalia Villa and I am a second-year student attending the University of North Texas at Dallas. I am applying for the DFW Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship and believe I am a perfect candidate as I have involved myself extensively with my community, have maintained excellent academic progress, and have participated in several leadership classes and events.
Throughout my high school years, I have involved myself in several community and volunteering events that have allowed me to integrate academic awareness into my Hispanic community. During my sophomore year, I was accepted into the Thomas Jefferson Student Ambassadors (TJSA) where my role as a team member allowed me to engage in several school events that promoted school spirit, academic awareness, and community involvement. During certain events held, I was considered a leader towards my members and I actively led several groups while assisting with organization of certain events. While overseas, I received the Certificate of Diplomacy for representing the U.S. overseas as part of an academic trip that enhanced my leadership role as I became the head of the Thomas Jefferson group. Being a UNT Dallas student has also allowed me to be given recognition for my academic excellence in the Dean’s List of Scholars for the school of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
I believe I am an excellent candidate for this scholarship because through my involvement in numerous volunteering events, I gained the required leadership skills to implement into my daily academic work and projects. Because of my experiences through volunteering and various opportunities at The Concilio and the TJSA, I have been able to improve the academic integrity of my community. With this scholarship, I will be able to pay my tuition as well as any necessary books and fees for me to finish my Bachelor’s in Communication and Technology. I will be able to spread academic awareness in other communities of different demographics.
